Soyinka says preachers responsible for violence in Nigeria

– Nigeria is currently battling a number of violent groups including the Boko Haram, militants and other agitators – Professor Wole Soyinka , while speaking at the University of Benin, advised government on the next line of action to take Nigeria’s Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has advocated for stiff punishment for religious leaders caught preaching hate messages. Imams, district and ward heads at an Emergency meeting summoned by Governor Kashim Shettima at the Government House, Maiduguri, recently Soyinka, who spoke at the University of Benin, Edo state, attributed the high- scale violence experienced in many parts of the country partly to what people hear from their religious leaders. Army displays weapons in Niger Delta

– The Nigerian army showed some of its weapons in Port Harcourt – This is part of the Operation Crocodile Smile in the Niger Delta region The Nigerian army has displayed some of its weapons as part of its on-going exercise in the Operation Crocodile Smile in the Niger Delta region. The rise of militancy in the region has led to bombing of oil and gas pipelines that has affected the economy. In reaction, the army initiated Operation Crocodile Smile which is meant to train troops in amphibious operation and also protect the region in other to curb militancy. On Saturday, September 3, troops displayed some armoured tanks in Port Harcourt in Rivers state. See photos below:

Gold discovered in Kano state?

– Nigerian man shares photos of people in Kano state, who are reportedly discovered deposits of gold -He says that people need the help of the federal government because the locals can only dig a little Facebook user Jaafar Jaafar shared the post of his friend Rufa’i Dabo , who wrote an interesting post after he visited Bagwai and Shanono LGAs in Kano. The man claims that these two villages are abundant of discovering gold and other natural resources. According to him the only problem is that the locals can only dig a little as they do not have the modern equipment to assist them in mining these mineral resources. He also shared photos of the villagers digging and searching for gold in the rivers where they think the gold could have been stuck. Buhari’s minister discloses amount recovered from looters

– Minister Lai Mohammed has said that Nigeria recovered about N78 billion, and 3 million dollars from looters since the inauguration of Muhammadu Buhari – However, the minister stated that it’s not enough for what Nigeria needs to revive economy Lai Mohammed, the minister of information, has revealed the amount recovered by Muhammadu Buhari’s government so far. Mr Mohammed stated that these funds can’t rescue Nigeria’s economy as they are a far cry from what the country needs to revive the economy.
